In the Word

In the Word

I started a new Bible study with a women’s group at my church last night on the book of James.  I appreciate the rich detail and lessons of history and culture that come from this particular author’s studies.  I love learning about what the original language looks like.  Its great to be able to spend time in the Word with other like-minded women who yearn for more than what a traditional Sunday gathering can offer.

Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”

Sarah’s Beach Baptism

I was baptized by Pastor David Hicks at Seacliff Beach on September 12, 2010.

This year my nine year old daughter took the plunge with Pastor Dave and Pastor Jose Santillan (a family friend). Praise God!

Sarah also designed and made her own t-shirt to wear.

The Still Quiet Voice of the Holy Spirit

I was physically separated from my daughter as she was designing and creating her own “baptismal t-shirt”.  I was sad about this, but prayed about it.

I called home this morning to make plans for the day.  When I made the call, I forgot that I wanted to ask Sarah to make a birthday card for her grandma.

As I was getting ready I paused to make a phone call about the card.

I was looking through my stuff and found my inexpensive collection of “cute” jewelry.  I noticed a one-size-fits-all dolphin ring we bought long ago.   My heart said “ahh”, and I put it away.  The voice (that sounds just like me – only wiser) said  “put on the dolphin ring”.  So, I did.

I went to pick up Sarah and I saw the card she made.  She wrote “Somebody told me it was your birthday”,  and there was a perfect hand drawn picture of a dolphin.

This is just a small example of how BIG our Lord is, and how amazing it is that He still wants me to know He is there!
